Love Medicine

“Love Medicine” by Louise Erdrich was the title of a short story that was first published in Ms magazine in 1984. When her novel also titled Love Medicine was published later the same year, she changed the original short story’s title to “Flesh and Blood” and wrote a new short story titled “Love Medicine”. Both short stories are included in the novel Love Medicine. Erdrich’s stories deal with Indian and mixed race families over a fifty year time period in North Dakota.
