On the Grasshopper and the Cricket

John Keats’s sonnet “On the Grasshopper and the Cricket” was written in a competition with Leigh Hunt, who wrote a poem titled “To the Grasshopper and the Cricket.”  The poem is a Romantic view of nature and the English countryside, yet suggests the themes of human life and death.
