The Old Man and the Sea (the novel)

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway was published in 1952 and won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1953. It is the story of an old fisherman who hooks and battles a giant marlin in a small boat. The old man fights the marlin over a period of days and eventually subdues the giant fish only to have the fish eaten by sharks on the way in.
