Olympia

Edouard Manet was a famous nineteenth-century French painter.  He was an influential Impressionist painter, using everyday subject matter, vivid color, and stress on light in his art.  Manet painted and exhibited Olympia between 1863 and 1865.  Olympia aroused controversy with its realistic portrayal of a modern nude woman.  This masterpiece now is located in the Musee d’Orsay in Paris, France.
