MLA Guides online

Remember that although many of the library databases provide MLA citations for electronic sources, it is your responsibility as a student to ensure that all of your citations are correct.

Be sure to compare any database generated citations to the library's MLA guides online (link below), the official MLA Handbook (located at the second floor Reference Desk), or your Little Seagull Handbook.

How Search Works

Searching Tips

If the title of your show is a phrase, e.g. Keeping Up with the Kardashians, try putting quotation marks around it when you search in Google, e.g. "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" This tells Google that you are searching for a phrase.

If you are not finding sources on your particular show you could try searching on depictions of a particular group, issue, or relationship on television, e.g. depictions of Latinos on television, depictions of marriage on television, depictions of bullying on television. These more general articles can still be helpful sources of information.
