Esther PercevalMy name is Esther Perceval, and I am 19 years old and I am a Sophomore at Valencia College. My intended major is Chemical Engineering and I am currently the East Campus SGA President, an LSAMP, VECTOR, and Honors Scholar.

ABSTRACT:  In the field of education many are trying to figure out the solution to the multitude of learning barriers that a student may encounter. Whether it is not being able to understand a concept, from not being able to conceptualize it in the brain, behavioral issues, or past experiences that have already taken shape and have entrenched itself in a student’s life that can affect how they view education and their performance. With each student comes a diverse array of different factors and reasons why one may have a certain barrier to their education. After doing countless hours of research and interviewing those in the field of education it is safe to say that almost anything can become a barrier to education. The possibilities are endless; it is extremely hard for educators to teach their students and aid them on their educational journey. With this in mind, the goal of this research paper is not only to identify some common and critical barriers to education and a possibility of their source, but also empower students to find the help that they need, and/or help themselves to overcome the barriers that they may face when trying to receive an education.
