Connecting to the Library

To Connect to the Library via Atlas:

1. Log in to Atlas: http://atlas.valenciacollege.edu.

2. Go to the MyAtlas tab, Courses tab, or Employees tab.

3. Under Libraries, click Search the Library.

Career Research

Searching the Library

When searching the library catalog for books relating to careers, try the following search:

Careers

or

Vocational Guidance

or you can narrow your search to a specific career by searching for your major and "careers". For example,

Nursing careers

or

Nursing Vocational Guidance

Keywords

As a rule of thumb when searching the catalog, it is a good practice to search multiple times using different keywords. Think about other words used to describe your major, career and industry.

Let's say you are interested in finding more information about becoming a lawyer. Appropriate keywords to use in your searches may include attorney, counselor, practitioner, district attorney, and public defender.

To further narrow down your results, try combining your keywords with terms such as career, profession, job, vocational guidance, industry or majors.
