Make the Most of Your East Library Class Visit : Home

Check out these optional resources and tips to make the most of your library visit.


Instructional Options

Before the Visit

  • Upload a copy of the library handout for your class. If your class is not listed, you may request a custom handout from your assigned librarian.

  • Ensure the librarian assigned to your class has an updated copy of your assignment and is notified of any changes before your visit.

During the Visit

  • Make note of any questions or challenges students experience during class.
    • For individual assistance, the student may request a librarian consultation.
    • The librarian may also recommend our Library Videos & Tutorials.

After the Visit

  • Post librarian contact information in your Canvas course. Here are a few options:
    • Ask a Librarian
    • Direct email of a librarian
    • Create a discussion board where a librarian can answer questions directly within your course
  • Link or embed the Quick Start Library Guide into your course as a reference resource for using the library.
  • Add a Research Workshops component for supplemental instruction. Research Workshops is the library’s self-enroll Canvas Course with a wide range of on-demand and live workshops. Our workshop modules are also available in the Canvas Commons. Suggested modules include:
    • Evaluating Sources: NSE
    • Formatting an APA Essay
    • Formatting an MLA 9 Essay
    • Introduction to APA
    • Introduction to Databases
    • Introduction to MLA
    • What is Plagiarism?
