What are Databases?

Searching for Background Information

You can usually find background information on your topic in library databases and on some websites. Pro/con articles are especially helpful in providing an overview of both sides of an issue. Encyclopedia articles can also provide historical background on key terms, people and events.

Use these resources to help you build a list of key words about your topic. Refer to the key word exercise in the box to the left.

Connecting to the Library: Quick Start from Atlas

Start from Atlas:

  1. Go to the MyAtlas tab, Courses tab, or Employees tab.
  2. Under Libraries, Click Search the Library. The Library Catalog opens.
  3. In the upper right corner, click Sign In.
  4. Click Login Using: Atlas Login to complete your login.
