Citation Styles

Style manuals are written to cover all aspects of how a written paper should look, such as

  • spacing
  • headers
  • and how citations should be written

The Modern Language Association (MLA) style and the American Psychological Association (APA) style are the two most commonly used formats at Valencia, although there are others such as Chicago, Turabian, etc. MLA is commonly used by English and Humanities classes. APA is more commonly used by Nursing and Social Sciences, such as Psychology and Education, classes.
