How do I locate a book?

Library Pro Tip: If a book isn't available at Lake Nona or currently checked-out, click "Request Item" and then select where you would like it transferred to. 

Finding Books

There are two ways to search for books at the Valencia College Libraries:

1) Log into your Atlas account by clicking the icon below, and click the "Search the Library" link on the right side of the "My Courses" tab

2) Visit the library catalog without logging in by clicking the box below

There are benefits to accessing the catalog through Atlas. You will be able to hold or request books online, so they are available when you visit a campus library. However, the link below will grant you access to the catalog in the event of an Atlas outage.

Books on Controversial Issues or Current Events at other Valencia Campuses

Searching the Online Catalog for Speech Books

The Valencia College Libraries have a special collection of books on controversial issues and current events in a collection known as the "Speech" collection. You can either go to the "Speech" section located in the Lake Nona campus library, or you can use the online library catalog to browse or search for your topic.


Advanced Search


-Use the advanced search tool to see books located in the Speech section.

-Change the "Keyword" search box to "Call #"

-Type the word "SPEECH".

-Make sure your "Material Type" is set to books, and "Within" is set to your preferred campus location

Finding eBooks

Don't forget you can search for electronic books or eBooks in the library catalog. Limit your search to eBooks to see what is available on your topic.
