The short story “Araby,” written by James Joyce, is a part of his famous Dubliners collection, which was published in 1914.  This story concerns an Irish boy who goes to a bazaar to buy a gift for a girl he likes, only to arrive at this bazaar too late.  Themes of this story include loneliness and disillusionment.
