Everyday Use

 

In 1973 the short story “Everyday Use” appeared in Alice Walker’s collection of short stories In Love and Trouble: Stories of Black Women.  It uses quilts and quilting to explore the themes of African-American heritage, materialism, and mother-daughter relationships.
