The Masque of the Red Death
The short story “The Masque of the Red Death” by Edgar Allan Poe was first published in Graham’s Magazine in 1842. It is a pictorial and symbolic story in which the principal character Prince Prospero, a wealthy, influential, and powerful nobleman tries to shut out death and fails, finally succumbing to his mortality.
