That Evening Sun
“That Evening Sun,” one of William Faulkner’s best-known short stories, is set in the early twentieth century South. Nine-year old Quentin, eldest of the three Compson children, tells the story of Nancy, an African-American laundress, who fears that her husband will kill her because she is pregnant with a white man’s child.
