Cathedral
First published in 1981, “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver is a minimalist short story centered around a domestic situation involving the interaction between an ordinary couple and their blind guest. The underlying themes of this story are alienation, the desire for a more spiritual life, and the feeling that we never quite reach our full potential and often have hidden talents that we never knew about.
