My Papa’s Waltz

Theodore Roethke’s poem “My Papa’s Waltz” is from his Lost Son collection.  In “My Papa’s Waltz,” the poet recollects a childhood romp with his father.  There is ambivalence here, though, as the boy both loves and fears this father.
