The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd
The poem “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” by Sir Walter Raleigh (Ralegh), written in 1599, is a response to Christopher Marlowe’s “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love”. The Nymph's reply shows that she denies and refuses every single argument that the shepherd states. She would go with him if the world and love were young, which is impossible. Moreover, she also expresses her opinion that all the pleasures he offered are not true.
