The Sun Rising

The Sunne Rising
John Donne was a famous seventeenth-century English poet known for his complex love poems and religious poetry. “The Sun Rising” or “The Sunne Rising” as it is sometimes spelled, is a love poem that that personifies the sun as an unwelcome individual who disturbs the poet and his lover from their bed. The poem asserts that love is what is most important and is a complete world in itself.
