My Last Duchess

“My Last Duchess”, written in 1842 is the most famous dramatic monologue written by Robert Browning.  The poem is the Duke of Ferrara’s monologue about a painting of his former wife, the duchess, while he negotiates, through an agent, for the hand of the niece of the Count of Tyrol in Austria.
