The Shining (the novel)

Jack Torrence, former teacher and struggling writer accepts a job as a summer resort caretaker who is prepared to remain there snowbound over the winter with only his wife and telepathic son. Torrence slowly loses his mind as the hotel takes on life of its own, directing him for its own horrifying purposes. The Shining was first published in 1977 and was author Stephen King’s third novel.
