The Old Man and the Sea (the 1958 movie)
Director John Sturges closely follows the Ernest Hemingway classic about an old Cuban fisherman who hooks and battles a giant marlin in a small boat. The old man fights the marlin over a period of days and eventually subdues the giant fish only to have the fish eaten by sharks on the way in.
Starring Spencer Tracy in the title role, composer Dmitri Tiomkin won an Oscar for the film’s musical score.
