Lapiths and Centaurs
The Lapiths and Centaurs is a group of Greek marble sculptures or metopes coming from the south side of the Parthenon, which dates from the 400’s B.C.E. These sculptures depict a battle in which the Lapiths, representing civilization, fight the Centaurs, who represent barbarism. These sculptures are now in the British Museum.
