Gates (Doors) of Paradise
Lorenzo Ghiberti (1378-1455) was a famous Renaissance artist from Florence, Italy. His most notable work is the Gates (Doors) of Paradise, richly decorated gilded bronze doors for the Baptistery of the Florence Cathedral. (Auguste Rodin later used Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise as inspiration for Rodin’s own doors, the Gates of Hell.)
