Gates of Hell
Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) was a renowned Frence sculptor. The Gates of Hell are doors that Rodin sculpted representing Dante’s Inferno from Dante’s Divine Comedy. These doors, and casts of them, are now in Paris’ Musee d’Orsay and Musee Rodin. (Such doors are contrasted with Ghiberti’s bronze doors, called Gates of Paradise, located in the Florence Cathedral.)
