Persistence of Memory
Salvador Dali was a famous twentieth-century Spanish painter. His wildly imaginative paintings made him a leader of the art movement called Surrealism. One of Dali’s best-known works is The Persistence of Memory (1931), which now is located at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. This painting features the famous melting clocks or watches. (The Persistence of Memory is not to be confused with a similar work that Dali painted later called The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory.)
