Grande Jatte
Georges Seurat (1859-1891) was a noted French Neo-Impressionist painter. Seurat devised a technique, Pointillism, that featured tiny dots of color to create a painting. Grande Jatte (1884-1886) is Seurat’s masterpiece, and also is called Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Grande Jatte now is located at the Art Institute of Chicago, and uses Seurat’s Pointillism to show people enjoying a day at the park.
