Siegfried Sassoon

Siegfried Sassoon was a British infantry officer during the First World War (1914-1918).  He is remembered for his angry, haunting poetry that defined the waste and tragedy of wartime sacrifices.  Some of his better-known poems are “Everyone Sang” (1919), “The General” (1918), and “Absolution” (1915).
