Valencia's Career Services

The Career Centers contribute to academic and career success by providing services and resources that allow students to explore career options, set career & personal goals, and develop employability skills.

Services and programs are designed to help students:

  • learn more about their personality, interests, skills and values
  • discover career options best suited to them
  • decide on a major related to career choice
  • research 4-year college/university, graduate, and professional school transfer requirements
  • review resumes and cover letters
  • learn about job interviewing techniques
  • research career fields and job outlook

Valencia's Internship & Workforce Services

The Internship and Workforce Services team is dedicated to educating and preparing Valencia students for Central Florida's dynamic job market. We are experts in the industry, working to identify employment trends and how they will impact career choices for students. 

SERVICES OFFERED

  • Assisting employers with developing and posting internships 
  • Assisting students in their pursuit of obtaining an internship or full-time employment 
  • Host job fairs and other professional networking events that provide opportunities for students to connect directly with employers 

Career Coach

Career Coach is a free online tool that allows students and community members to explore potential careers.

Through a simple keyword search, students and community members can learn about the employment prospects of careers they want to research. The real-time information is customized for Orange and Osceola counties and includes detailed wage estimates and up-to-date job postings associated with any career. Users are directed to Valencia’s programs when searching for specific jobs.

Career Coach also includes a built-in resume builder to help students and jobseekers quickly and efficiently put together an updated resume with key skills and job experience highlighted.

Valencia's Career Action Distinction Certificate

Through this experience, students will:

  • Increase self-awareness
  • Explore and evaluate career and transfer school options
  • Gain an awareness of what it means to be a "professional" in the workplace
  • Learn how to market themselves to employers, and be competitive in their job search

Upon completing the Career Action Distinction, students will receive:

  • A cord at graduation
  • A recognition of completion
  • A co-curricular verification letter of activities completed

Enrollment is open to any degree-seeking student at Valencia during the start of both Fall and Spring semesters. We suggest that they have completed 12-15 credit hours before beginning.

It's easy to enroll! Using their Atlas e-mail, students send their name and VID number to their campus' Career Center.
