Guide to Using Video: My Video is Not Available

I really, really want my online class to watch a particular film, and it’s not available through any of the library’s subscription services, what can I do?

That’s a frustrating situation. First of all, please know that it frustrates your librarians when we cannot obtain a license for you, too.

Then consider the following, admittedly less than ideal, options:

  • If the film is available through a service that offers individual subscriptions or purchases, consider asking students to subscribe or purchase.
  • Ask the library to purchase the DVD, and then ask students to visit the library to view it.
  • Public libraries may also have copies of the DVD and be an option for students.
  • Substitute another film that is available through our subscription services.
