ENC 1102 (Nater) - Managing Time: Finding Books & E-Books

This guide is designed to help students with library research as they complete assignments in ENC 1102 with Professor Nater at the Osceola Campus

Finding Books

There are two ways to search for books and other materials at Valencia College Libraries:

1. Log into your Atlas account and click the "Search the Library" link in the upper right corner of the "Courses" tab.

2. Start at any Valencia Web Page and select Libraries on Quick Links.

If you need to place a hold, request a book online, or use any of our electronic resources you will need to login. The Login button is at the top right corner of the screen. To do that you will need to enter your Valencia Identification number (your "V" number) including the "V" in the box for Borrower's ID. Your PIN will be the last 4 digits of your "V" number.

Once the Library Catalog page opens, Clicking Advanced Search is the best way to do a search so you can limit your search to items we have at Osceola or limit by item type. I HIGHLY recommend at least limiting Material Type to Omit Books so that you are not overwhelmed with articles that may or may not be appropriate to use and may or may not have full text.

1) Log into your Atlas account by clicking the icon below, and click the "Search the Library" link in the upper left corner of the "My Atlas" tab

There are benefits to accessing the catalog through Atlas. You will be able to hold or request books online, so they are available when you visit a campus library. However, the link below will grant you access to the catalog in the event of an Atlas outage.

Finding e-Books

To search for e-books: From the library catalog home page (above), choose eBooks from the "Limit to:" dropdown menu, then click "Search". Your search results will contain e-books only.

To view an e-book, click the "View Online" button underneath the book's entry on the search results page.
