NEA Big Read at Valencia College: Home

A guide to events for the NEA Big Read program at Valencia College and Orange County Library System

Welcome

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) designed to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. Orange County Library System is one of 84 not-for-profit organizations to receive a grant to host an NEA Big Read project between September 2020-September 2021. Showcasing a diverse range of contemporary titles that reflect many different voices and perspectives, the NEA Big Read aims to inspire conversation and discovery. This year, the Orange County Library System, in partnership with Valencia College, celebrates Lab Girl by author Hope Jahren.

Visit the Lab Girl tab to learn more about the book, the Calendar tab to see programming events, and the Request a Book tab to have a copy of Lab Girl mailed to you free!

The Valencia College libraries do not welcome solicitation of resources to be added to our LibGuides. This includes but is not limited to vendors, search engine optimizers, placement of ads, products, or any other requests. Our LibGuides are carefully curated resources developed in partnership with faculty, staff, and students to support specific assignments, courses, events, and other related purposes at Valencia College. The Valencia libraries reserve the right to ignore LibGuide resource solicitations, and/or block persistent requests from groups or individuals to add or promote links in our LibGuides.
