Controversial Issues Databases

Opposing Viewpoints is a particularly good place to start when searching for alternate stances on an issue, as the Mash-Up assignment requires you to do.

Search on your topic, e.g. minimum wage, and note the different categories that come up.

Viewpoints Essays, if there are any in your search, are a good category to start with as they contain alternate stances on different issues.

Here are a couple of additional databases like Opposing Viewpoints that may be helpful.

General Database

Academic Search Complete is a general database, meaning that it has articles on just about any topic you can imagine.

Use it to find additional sources.

Search tip: use keywords or phrases and insert each concept into a separate box, e.g.

minimum wage  in the first box

united states in the second box

college students in the third box

Video Databases

These databases contain videos that can be used for your mash-up.
