Connecting to the Library Online: Home

This guide tells you how to access library databases, e-books, and your library account online.

What's in this Guide?

This is a guide to help Valencia students, staff and faculty log in and access Valencia library databases, e-books and your library accounts online.

You will need to log in in order to:

  • Open and search databases.
  • View full-text articles online.
  • View and download e-books.
  • View your account and renew items.

Visitors & Guests: Searching the Library

Visitors and Guests may search the library without logging in, but will not be able to access subscribed content such as online databases, full-text articles, or e-books. To search the library, go directly to the library catalog:

Connecting to the Library via Atlas

To Connect to the Library via Atlas:

1. Log in to Atlas: http://atlas.valenciacollege.edu.

2. Go to the MyAtlas tab, Courses tab, or Employees tab.

3. Under Libraries, click Search the Library.

If Atlas is Unavailable: Connecting to the Library Using a Borrower ID and PIN

If Atlas is unavailable, you can still access the Library using your Borrower ID and PIN.

1. Go directly to the library catalog page: https://union.discover.flvc.org/vc.jsp

3. In the upper right corner, click Log In.

4. Enter your Borrower ID and PIN. Unless you have changed them,

  • the Borrower ID is your VID number
  • the PIN is the last 4 digits of your VID number

Troubleshooting Tips

When logging in via Atlas:

"I can log in to Atlas, but cannot access the Library."

The problem: Your library account may not exist, or your account may have expired. Typically, new users are loaded into the library system within a few days after they are registered and paid for the upcoming or current term.

What to do: Please send an e-mail to libraryservice@valenciacollege.edu with your full name and VID number. We'll verify that you are a current student and update your library account, then contact you.

"Atlas is down or too slow and I can't log in."

The problem: Atlas may be experiencing technical difficulties.

What to do: You can still access the Library using your Borrower ID and PIN; see the "If Atlas is Down" section of this guide.

When using your Borrower ID and PIN:

"Borrower ID is expired."

The problem: Student accounts expire at the end of each term. Typically, new users are loaded into the library system within a few days after they are registered and paid for the upcoming or current term.

What to do: Please send an e-mail to libraryservice@valenciacollege.edu with your full name and VID number. We'll verify that you are a current student and update your library account, then contact you.

"It says my Borrower ID or PIN are invalid."

The problem: Either the Borrower ID or PIN was entered incorrectly, OR your borrower ID has not been activated in the Library system.

What to do: Be sure that you are entering your VID number as the Borrower ID and the last four digits of your VID number as the PIN.

  • When entering your VID number as you Borrower ID, include the V.

  • Be sure you have typed all the numbers correctly. The second character after the V is a zero.

  • If you have entered your Borrower ID and PIN correctly and are still receiving an error message, please send an e-mail to libraryservice@valenciacollege.edu with your full name and VID number. We'll verify that you are a current student and update your library account, then contact you.
