Access the Databases

You must log in to the library to access the databases listed in this guide.

1. If you reached this guide through a link in Canvas, you are already logged in.

2. Login via Atlas

  • Go to Atlas
  • Go to the Courses tab
  • Click on Search the Library

2. Login with Borrower ID and PIN

  • Click on a database link in the guide.
  • When prompted, the Borrower ID is your VID number.
  • The PIN is the last four digits of your V number.

The following library databases provide information about businesses and industries, including competition, business trends and opportunities:

Local Government

Visit official government websites of the localities relevant to your business. You can learn about existing government services and regulations.

Google Tips & Tricks

To find local non-profit organizations using Google, try the site: syntax. For example:

orlando homeless site:org

This search would find .org sites related to homelessness in Orlando.

These resources provide statistics and data about the population of a given area. Demographics Now is a library database. US Census content is available free online.
